Strange mood needs met too late?
« on: November 16, 2009, 03:05:59 pm »

I have a dwarf that went into a strange mood that I cannot provide for. He first went for several items then stopped. I checked his comments and leather and cloth are the only things he wants that I didn't have. As it turned out I had merchants in my depot at the time so I traded for crates of each immediately.

However he still stands there wanting these things. I have confirmed that everything he is asking for is available, not forbidden or restricted, and not in use. Is this because I didn't have them available when he first wanted them, and if so is there no way to save him now?

Thanks :)

He might want cloth made of silk instead of plant fiber, or visa versa.

Only dwarves with Fey moods will tell you whether they want plant fiber cloth or silk cloth - in any case, though, it's always a good idea to keep some of each on hand.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Check your cloth. Whichever type you don't have, that's what he wants.

Always keep some GCS silk cloth on hand for such emergencies. It's probably the single most valuable raw material short of the [REDACTED] metal. If you're really anal about it, order the silk thread, dye it with a legendary dyer, weave it with a legendary weaver, and then let a moody dwarf claim it. That's obscenely valuable right there.
