Dwarf Fortress Talk #5: Questions
« on: November 08, 2009, 12:09:18 pm »

Since noone bothered to make Question thread for talk #4, I am taking preemptive action here.

So, here goes question #1:

Quote

Considering leader and civ motivations, will player made fortresses be tied to them too?

Most real world settlements start as way to tap resources of land. Player fortresses, however, are fairly random in this regard and totally free to do whatever the hell they want, literal sandbox.

Will fortress have more of historical or, hmm, puprose feel?

We took questions from the old thread.  We haven't talked yet about what's going to happen there.

Don't expect your questions to be considered for the next talk.

Yeah, preemptive action isn't appropriate in this situation.  They'll put one up when they're ready.

They already discussed this within the Talks themselves. The reason they haven't started a thread or anything is because they're figuring out a better way to organise and accept questions - the threads just got too huge and unwieldy to be practical and have a good shot at the best questions getting the best answers.

As well, all the posts i've seen you make are flame posts, barely if at all constructive.

Yeah we've actually been emailing each other to narrow down possibilities of the episode's theme.

I suppose I'll reiterate a suggestion that somebody else had but I support for posing the questions: use the same script that the Eternal Suggestions thread has for submitting and voting on questions.  That way, the members of the community can both write in questions and support questions that we want to see answered through votes.
