I loved this town a few days ago but now I love it even more. I spent $40 in an old pawn/thrift shop two blocks from my house.

A few nights ago I had this weird dream that I'd go in and find old SNES games for sale, and I'm just geeky enough to find that as an epic prophecy. So I went.

(Yes, I actually had a dream like that. It baffles even me, and I had the dream so imagine how high my standards are for bafflement.)

And I did find old SNES games. Shelves of them. And old PSX games and, to save space, virtually every console or PC that ever existed had something for sale here. In many cases, the system itself-- I tripped over an NES on my way out.

This pretty much made my day. Here's a list of some of the things I got. I can probably actually play half of them.

Ultima VI: The False Prophet, DOS, those 5" gigantic floppy disk things from my youth. $2!
King's Field II, PSX, because I adored this game. ($1/2!)
Mass Effect, Xbox 360, because my PC can't run this game. ($9!)
Fighter Maker, PSX, because... I have no idea, actually, but it was like $1!
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, PSX, because... MUDA DA. Mudadadadadadada
Shenmue, Dreamcast, because I heard it was awesome... though I have no idea what became of my Dreamcast. $8, but worth it.
Kessen II, PS2, because I always wanted to try it!
Metal Gear Solid II: Substance, Xbox, because I have the PS2 vanilla version! ($4)
Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter, PS2, because it looked interesting and it was ($3)!
Hosigami, PSX, because it said Atlus on it and I'm a whore.

Things I saw that I really, really wish I bought:

God knows how many PC games. Tropico, Master of Orion, Ultima I, Star Flight II: Trade-routes of the Cloud Nebula, Ultimate DooM, Duke Nukem: Atomic Edition, and I have no idea how many others.

Feel The Magic, for the DS, 'cos I thought I heard it was pretty good.

God knows how many NES, SNES, N64... my consoles are broken or missing but I should have bought Donkey Kong Country anyway. Also, Goemon's Great Adventure. Whee!

I had no idea this much stuff was a few blocks from my apartment. I must continue to raid this place and acquire sweet, sweet nostalgia.

Also tempting was a Katana and an Electric Guitar, because if I had one in each hand I would be possibly the most deadly person in town, though for reasons not related to playing music properly.

I was there for about two hours and I don't think I saw half of the things they had for sale, in a fairly tiny store. Stuffed to the brim. And the owner? About 50 years old and totally badass. He's played half the games he sells, mostly the older ones, probably up until the N64.

You've been ripped off, but if you are happy then so am I ^^

How much did you pay for all that?

Agreed. If he were shopping at Gamestop, he'd be at least paying double. Plus, not as many of the good games would've been available anyway.

That's no rip-off at all. That's a freaking deal.

I would have paid insane prices (if capable) for some of the stuff there, anyway. Man, the nostalgia. Can't believe I own a DOS version of Ultima VI now. (I have an SNES cart around.)

Though I just heard MGS 2: Substance doesn't work on the 360. Sadface.

Okay. I'm hitting the pawn shops tomorrow to see if I can find anything that good.

I bought a load of Rush Vinyls and I'm saving up for Trout Mask Replica by Captain Beefheart. Happy days.

I wish the pawn shops around here had stuff this good. The best I got was my somewhat junky PSP for like, 40$ because they thought it was broken when it just needed to charge. Idiots.

I wish we HAD pawn shops. All there is over here are "legitimate establishments", which sell everything but nostalgia.

Man I lost my real copy of MOO ages ago. I didn't think it was possible to find anymore, I've just been running abandonware...not to mention, I don't have a floppy drive.

Just wish I could get the sound working.
