i own an hp laptop and i have never had problems yet with the battery or adapter that came with it. just spend the extra money on the adapter made for your model. there is a reason the third party ones are cheaper. of course, there's always the chance that the one made for your laptop is sh*t too.
also, i have only had it for a year now that i think about it,so i guess there's still time for fail.

sidenote: F*CK HP AND THEIR UPDATE SYSTEM. i can't update the drivers because their custom for this laptop model. but the hp updater needs an update. WHICH WONT F*CKING WORK. /end raeg.

And don't forget the random "wireless not working" bug in their programming which forably restarts your computer so it can make the wireless stop working....
