Exports: How does it work.

In the past 6 Caravans from my Mountain home and the local Humans, Ive "sold" by last count well over 80,000 dwarfbucks woeth of goods... IE, selected everything I wanted, then heaped up mountains of lowgrade Rope-weed and Pigtail cloth, as well as mountains of rock crafts until the "Profit" marker under trade read well over 10,000. However, for the past Three caravans my "Export" liost has never gone much past 50,000.  Shouldn't it be making Massive jumps each time I unload goods? Doesn't 10,000 excess "profit" to a merchant count as the same as "Export" goods?

Your export numbers won't budge until the merchants leave the map. Also, items that were originally imported, including items brought by invaders (basically anything with parentheses in its name) don't count as exports. Do either of those account for what you're seeing?

Not sure about parentheses, but stuff that you made/produced is listed in brown when trading.  Stuff that you bought/got from invaders is listed in white.

Stuff in white does not count for your exports total.

Another easy test is to see if you can 'o'ffer the items you've selected to the merchants.  If this option is greyed out, you have one or more items selected that you did not produce.

So if your economy is based off of killing goblins and selling their giant cave spider clothing, your exports won't budge.

Now, you *can* make them count by decorating them with leather or cloth images...

Also, you can manufacture vomit at a smelter.  Subsequently removing the smelter spews vomit over a surprising area.
