So after much frustration attempting to make a well, that wouldn't freeze over on a glacier map, it finally occured to me to position my water source next to some solid rock, and have a series of up/down stairs (Note use channels... aleviates some dumbtastic pathing I encountered.)

Anyways so after I had my spot and dug outthe room, and the cistern and all the other stuff I found that my room was to big to fill without my magma evaporating before It could fill. So I bisected the room with a wall. Once the half room was atleast 4/7 deep I ordered a wall removed inorder to flood the remaining half. Guess who volunteered!
