You DO realize that there is a whole fuckin metric shittonne of 7900GSes out there that proceed to work fine and merrily?

Throwing out the card and buying a new, equally strong or even better one, when the problem actually was a system that couldnt support the old card properly, is equal to throwing out the money.

it aint all that much work narrowing down the problem.

also, what EXACTLY do you think is the flaw of the card?

I don't remember the exact problem but from internet searches and talking to Nvidia directly(but maybe they are wrong) I gathered it was a flaw with the graphics card. Once it happens it can't be fixed.

Update: from my original problem with the card

the basic problem is that the graphics thread gets frozen for longer then 2 seconds, when that happens the drivers crash and reset (microsoft has stated that the drivers are only ever allowed 2 seconds in which to execute the thread and 2 seconds is an infinitely long time in computers)

and here is a thread that may help http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=25381

That is all fine and dandy, and I'm not saying its wrong, I'm just saying it's too soon to blindly jump to that conclusion.
