I was just thinking how nice it would be to have a 'nursery' workshop that your kids would be more likely to hang out in, kind of like the way dogs stay near the kennel. This would have the benefit of keeping them out of harm's way, (especially if mommy's in the military), and keep them from cluttering up the halls any further or throwing parties in the statue room.

Either that or can we please have the ability to stuff them in cages until they grow up?

Actually, could you implement both of those things? Please?

I think dwarven children should be so fat that you can just roll them over to a "Child/Baby" stockpile, and have special nursery dwarves that feed them and such until they grow up.

But that's just me, being silly.   :)

No, I think the cook would be in charge of sugar-coating the cows.

You are a lifesaver! Round and probably in tropical flavors.

I think it would be cool if kids followed one or both of their parents around, and eventually started with the some of the same skills that the parents have at dabbling or novice level. Actually, I imagine that something like this is being developed... there must be a reason for the toy hammers, etc. etc., right?

Also, maybe they could go fishing and hunt down vermin every now and then...

It's been suggested before, still a good idea m'thinks.

To Misterstone, I dunno about toy hammers but I do recall Toady saying children should develop preference (and thereby practice) skills before adulthood.

that'd be great, and there should be some heredity, so the son of a legendary carpenter will more likely become a good carpenter too,
and you should be able to force marriage between wanted dwarves.

My Dwarves would become perfect !! no place for weaks ! and we'll rule the world !...
huh?
oh... sorry, just went a bit far   :D
