They floated.  They're native to beaches.  Don't date palms grow in deserts, too?

Edit: I can't believe I didn't even think to say "two african swallows or four European swallows using a length of vine".  I'm ashamed of myself.

You bloomin' idgits, yer supposed to mention something about giant cave swallows!

They're strong enough, and they're not native to the area!  It's a perfect match.  They're even big enough to not have to worry about grasping the coconut.

Gah!  You were TRYING to set it up and I didn't see it!  I hang my head in SHAME.  I didn't even work in something about how yes, I AM suggesting that coconuts migrate.

Ahem.  And now back to manufacturing sand.

Why not both? I mean, what really is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallowman?

"Manufacturing" sand ain't as easy as just grinding rock. While both sand and most of the rock is silica, sand is a fairly specific breed of a subset of similar substances. Like loam, clay, and silt. So you'd need some specific rocks, and some way of making a proper-sized batch of sand.
