[40d]last item in work order asking for coal, with magma forge
« on: October 02, 2009, 03:42:02 am »

I have a strange bug with the orders. The last forge item in each order is never built.
For example, I asked for 30 silver battleaxe. 29 are forged, and then nothing... I reactivated the job cancellation messages, and saw this:

".. cancels Forge Silver battle axe: Needs refined coal."

Wich is stupid since I only have magma forges, and the 29 previous axes didnt asked for coal.
And this bug happen on any forge order I make.

Check your (r)oom list and make sure you don't have an old metalsmith's forge built in some obscure area.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

I never built a basic forge, I started with a magma one.
It's 100% sure: no old forge, only magma.

I tested a little, and its obvious it is a bug:
Every time I put a work order to forge, it will forge all the items but the last, for wich it will ask a refined coal.
If I make the last item by manually adding it to a magma forge, it will be forged without problem, but the work order will not be validated (maybe normal?).

If you think it's a bug, then by all means post a save file to DFFD.

maybe see what happens if you post a work order for 1 axe, rather than doing it manually?

I've put a bunch of work orders for varied items, to show the bug.
It happens on the last item, even if its a work order for only one item.

Upon getting "Missing Reaction Definition" in vanilla 40d, I downloaded the Mayday tileset version and was able to load the game successfully.

You do have a Metalsmith's Forge, and it's in the southeast area of Z-level 146, right next to a wood furnace and 2 jeweler's workshops (and below a loom, leather works, and clothier's shop on Z-level 145).

Incidentally, I found it by paging through the (r)oom list (found it a few pages after the coffers and weapon racks+armor stands), just like I initially suggested that you do...

What the hell is it doing there? O_O
Well, my bad, I was sure I never built one, because I simply never tried all the metal crafting before the magma forge.

Still, its anormal that the last item of each work order goes on the basic forge. I will deconstruct it and no doubt i will not have any more problems.
