Drawbridges doesn't work with manual lever

Subj*

Make a raising drawbridge, link it to the lever, wait till the animal/enemy step on it, push the lever.
The lever works, switches to other side, but bridge does not rise. Why?!

Bridges (and floodgates) have to wait 100 'steps' before they're raised/opened.

They don't go at instant.

Assuming it was properly hooked up, the only thing that would prevent the bridge from raising would be if there was a megabeast or wagon on it.  Ordinary creatures standing on a bridge won't prevent it from raising, and will be either thrown off or crushed depending on where they were standing.

Vanilla dwarf fortress doesn't have mammoths.  What mod are you using, and does it code mammoths as megabeasts or building destroyers or something?

The mere fact that it's a wagon puller shouldn't stop a bridge from operating, otherwise you wouldn't be able to atomsmash horses (and I'm pretty sure you can). Perhaps the [SIZE:20] is what's doing it (which is pretty damn huge - elephants are size 16) - the only other creatures that big are megabeasts and whale sharks.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Bridge had crush itself into compound stones by the mammoths when lowering on them.

Just did a few tests, and it is indeed the [SIZE] that does it - when I embarked with dwarves having [SIZE:11] they were unsmashable, but dropping to [SIZE:10] made them vulnerable again. Thus, it would appear that immunity to the Dwarven Atom Smasher (bridge refuses to retract/raise, deconstructs when lowering) is granted merely by having a SIZE greater than 10.

Now we should mod in size 10 Hidden Fun Critters and megabeasts and see if the drawbridges kill them.

This may alter an axiom we've held for ages.
