Let me just say I abhor myspace. It's ugly and pointless, to me (and that's opinion based, so if you like it, goody) and I consider it a haven for annoying people who have no grammar or spelling skills.
So... uh, I don't think I'll be joining, if it's all the same to you.
Same here Jack, I dislike all of the networking sites, apart from forums, and possibly blogs.
Maybe twitter, if only for updates on things.
Amen.
I used to have one such account until I got bored out of it. Plus, I got sick of my "friends" bugging me with stupid crap; and the sense of "security" they bring isn't enough, nor is it comfortable. Let's not forget that having family members constantly updated gets a little worrying. And when you start having a job that "researches" who you are through a social networkng site, you might as well pack up.
If anything, having a social networking profile is like wearing a beacon for trolling and trouble. Being the victim of course; unless you're an angler that hunts down trolls by acting like bait.
I'm actually willing to go classic, and contact people in person or over a phone or through e-mail.
Certain forums, IRC, and live feeds are an exception, of course, due to relevance of topic. Like DF/Bay12 for example.
Added Note:
It didn't help that I actually took Web Design classes, and couldn't get my site to look right anyway, while getting my eyes burned out of their sockets, and going deaf due to people that are skillfully-inept at design or volume control or musical taste with their own sites. Let's just say, it's only good purpose is a motivator to reset your social standings and make new friends.
...Without the assistance of a social networking site, that is.
