the hardware acceleration thing doesnt work, and for some reason i cant apply my CD-key to steam and use the steam version.

Non-Steam cd-keys only sometimes work with Steam (for products with some special deal with Valve, I guess), but it was worth a shot. Otherwise, I dunno. Wait for tech support, I guess.
