Youtube alternatives
« on: September 16, 2009, 12:51:40 pm »

You guys probably are all starting to get sick of Youtube's tendancy to throw cold water on everything you do, so let's find a good alternative. Understandably, probably no video site in the planet has close to the amount of content that's available on Youtube but still, good videos are probably replicated all over the place.

So, what are the alternatives to Youtube that you guys use?

Viddler is nice. It has all the Lets Plays I care about, and that is damn near all I use video streaming sites for.

Dailymotion has pretty much the same crap as Youtube, but international. Prepare for some Swedish guy doing the Numa Numa Guy dance.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

I'll use whichever one happens to have the video I want.  If Youtube, great.  If not, search the other ones.

Vimeo feels more 'professional' than YouTube does and it has quite a large community. Sometimes weird rules, though - for instance, you can't post videos of games (unless you made the game)

Obviously not, because Google Video is a search engine.

Obviously not, because Google Video is a search engine.

You can't upload videos anymore, but Google Video is still a video hosting service too.  That was its original purpose, in fact.  The search engine functionality was added later.
