INCOMING WAVE OF HATE AMBIGUITY
=======
We all know how 4chan's /b/ is, and the other popular forums right?
Now imagine that all this happens within the bounds of SMS messages, unorganized(threadless), but less hatemachine.
Two ways to look at it:
1) A threadless forum to output ideas and the entire cloud usually has nothing useful to say. To organize this information #tags and the ability to search by keyword is used. Basically a forum cloud. No set topics but the ones you want. Resulting in a wondrous cloud of data, a real look into society today.
2) Text messaging the entire world about anything.
Now we know all the random bullshit and utter crap the internet puts out. Now give people an easy bite size way to do that at the touch of any SMS enabled phone and see what happens.
Not that there hasn't been useful uses of a page dedicated to spreading small bitesized messages (and subsequently maybe sending those messages directly to another person). It can be used as a central messaging hub to contact you, either by cellphone or computer. (Twitter has a PM function) (personally I like Google Voice for a central hub of contact myself). People can tweet about significant events happening around them. (Newsworthy or just to let your family know).
It's just that most of it's crap and it's too much work to bother filtering through the shit. It's just not my thing, I prefer the more organized hubs of threaded forums. But hey, I'm a lazy sod.
I pity the live newscasters who have to scrounge the twittersphere for news.

TL;DR - Twitter has some right uses. Too bad most people are using it wrong (only benefit is that doing it wrong provides a look into society)
This dwarf fortress twit log (twog) uses twitter correctly (as far as intentions of use and contribution) as it gives realtime bitesized information which wouldn't fit in a Blog nor multiple forum posts. (although one could make a log of their twog entries to post on their blog which they link on a forum. But just describing that sounds like something out of Dr Seuss)
