Minor temperature suggestions

Non-instant water evaporation
When one boils a cup of water, the water usually does not explode in a flash of steam once its boiling point is reached. The rate of water evaporation should be proportional to the temperature of the tile(with higher temperatures producing steam), such that a pool of water heated from underneath by magma would only evaporate slightly faster than normal, yet water touching a SoF would instantly flash into steam.

HEAT attacks increase temperature of target
The wiki says that heat attacks can set creatures on fire, but testing has proven this to be untrue and Toady himself has said that HEAT, COLD and BURN attacks are identical apart from the combat text displayed. Having HEAT attacks increase temperature according to their damage value would allow the ignition of targets.

FIXED_TEMP for materials
This is less to do with normal Dwarf Fortress gameplay and more to do with modding possibilities. Being able to set a FIXED_TEMP for materials would allow, say, using hot rocks and water to create a sauna, or arrows that combust enemies upon getting stuck in.

The resulting party killed 20 dwarves, crippled 2 more and the remaining 9 managed to get along and have a nice party.

The problem with a fixed_temp rock is... how do you get Dwarves to haul it without a specialized order to get protective gear?

If you read the dev logs, number 2 will be presented in next release. Although it wasn't melting the brain.

Almost seems like there should be a homeothermic option rather than a native temperature.  Should FORCE objects to be a certain temp, just let them produce heat (or cold) to a certain point.

How cool would homeothermic ice be?  As long as the room stays freezing or below, it'll keep the room freezing (Think:  As long as you don't apply more heat via fire or sunlight than it can absorb, it'll keep the room cold, leave it in the sun on a hot day, the ice will melt, and you'll lose the effect).
