Any 2010 succession games planned?
« on: March 28, 2010, 03:47:51 pm »

If there are I'd like to put my name down for them. We kinda need a sticky or a subsection for active succession games.

'What Makes a Story Great' is a planning thread for one in the new version.

SparkGear X will start with the new version.

I'd sign up for the 'what makes a story great' fort is a second if it wasn't for the catch: no new DF till your turn. I seriously cannot wait that long. I've burnt through all my games and most of my anime and other tv shows on my comp waiting for the new version.

What's this SparkGear X?

I'm going to make one at some point, when I get my new computer.

Well, that's the plan.

It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

SparkGear X is the 10th installment in the line of SparkGears, started by Nahkh, and continued by others.

We do some crazy stuff.

Like killing everyone, with elaborate death machines. Also, nahkh should really come back, it's just not the same without him.  :( I believe 2 and 3 were the most epic, I don't really know what happenend in 7-8. Linkies:

Sparkgear 2

Sparkgear 3

Sparkgear 1

Sparkgear 4

Sparkgear 5

I had this idea for one in which I select a random site for the first player to embark on -  not me.  His goal would be to dig all the way down to new underground features and dig out a living there asap.  No reliance on the outside (except caravans) once UG features are breached.  Fort stays open to the outside, though, for extra Fun.

My uncle suggested having one amongst the three members of my family that play this game (ie, me, him, my brother.

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

Well, whatever happens, I'd like to point out that even though I am a rather experienced fortress designer/manager, I've never played a succession game before. So if you're still going to do 24 hour turns I don't know how I'll do, but sign me up and we'll see what happens.

As I mentioned in the Abandoned Worlds thread, I'm going to be putting up various saves once I've tested whatever changes/additions I just did for Civilization Forge. People will certainly be welcome to turn those into succession forts if they like.
