Pumps, pressure, and cisterns
« on: September 06, 2009, 02:10:08 pm »

What happens if you have a pump emptying into an enclosed room? Does it successfully drain water from the bottom end of the pump, or not? I'm trying to drain a river long enough to do some construction work in it, but I have no magma, don't want to wait until winter, and have nowhere to safely send the water.

Pumps do not move water if the output end of the pump is facing 7/7 depth already. If you just want to destroy water, set up a bunch of floodgates or drawbridges to repeatedly open and close; any water occupying the construction's space when it closes will be destroyed.
