In the US, a console game will cost you $60 and a PC game will cost $50.

And remember, games are not priced on how good they are. They are sold to a standard price, with budget games going below (rarely) and Collectors Editions will All Them Shitz going above to 70 or 80 dollars.

The growing cost of games (they might push it to $70 standard) still bothers my inner businessperson. Obviously games are getting 'better', since they're stumbling over the same cliches that were bad in older ones. All the billions of dollars that are making games 'so much more expensive' are going into graphics, and no money seems to be left over for creativity. Or maybe the problem is that they're spending money on creativity and not getting any- making a game to make a game, not just because they had a good idea on how to make one.

Speaking of which, I heard Wolfenstein was 'meh' (which nowadays means its the same as everything else, rather than having good concepts contending with flaws) and the Batman game did brilliantly.

Games for the Wii cost $50, Xbox360 and PlayStation cost $60.

Some of the good games are cheaper, and go down in price over time. Also, Cave Story and La Mulana will be on wiiware!

Not only is it not actually advertising anything, it's just copy/pasting word salads about gold, runescape, oil, yuan, and handbags.  It's like a transporter accident combined all the spambots into one shambling mass of online sales.

I don't think it's impressive at all that free indie games are being ported to a console. I take it customers will have to pay for them, when they can get them for free online?

La mulana will have updated graphics and music. The same wonderful tracks, but with improved sound quality. Also, I run Vista and La Mulana hates Vista.

Games are pretty expensive in Sweden.
From actual physical stores new games usually cost 70 to 100$ (500-700 kr), but you can almost always get it for a lot cheaper online.

$70CA is $76AU.

$50US is $59AU.

A new game here in Australia costs around $110AU - that's $92US and $101CA.

You poor babies.

Keep in mind that your games are Imported

Yeah, must be impored first class...

I'm pretty sure you'll find we have a local cd printing place.

Most games in your country are indeed imported,Check your store or a online listing

Edit:Plus most games won't even be there if it wasn't for larger companys Importing them

A game such as guitar hero world tour wouldn't be in your stores if it wasn't for activevison importing them

Spore cost me NZD$110 when it first came out.

I cried myself to sleep the next day.
When I saw NZD I thought Nazi Dollar, not New Zealand Dollar. That's about 75.2 dollars US, still pretty damn expensive. I usually wait for game sales here in the US. Nothing like buying great games for [ridiculously] low prices.

What the hell are you talking about?

There's no extra physical cost from "importing" the game, as its printed locally and shipped out to stores around Australia, and usually stocked by companies such as EB games, GAME, etc. Just like what happens in the USA.

When they say imported - they mean they ship via boxes - the games to the stores from one country to another.

Whether our games are imported or not is 100% irrelevent to the issue at hand. Unless the games are being treated to champagne and five-star food on a first class flight here, which I believe they are not and are likely being transported in bulk (bulk as in a couple hundred thousand copies at a time) on either planes or boats. A mark up of $40-$50 per individual copy is simply not justifiable when you can import bulk at considerably less per copy. Then there's the isue of large distributers having printing facilities here already.
