Can dwarves share furniture?
« on: September 12, 2009, 01:01:15 pm »

In my current fort, one of my Legendary Miners got a Fey mood and made an Adamantine Floodgate worth just under a million dwarfbucks. It occurred to me that if I was to place that in a large room, I could designate something like 80 rooms, all of Royal quality, as long as they contained that floodgate. So, if I dumped 20 Beds in there with 5 Weapon Stands, 5 Armor Racks and 10 chests, could all my nobles(including the King) share that room and the furniture? Or would I have to build separate chests, cabinets, and stands for each of them?

I think so.

I know you can share an area with over-lapping rooms and it just cuts the value of each, but I'm not 100% about each piece of required furniture for nobles, but I suppsect so.

I'm waiting on my King/Queen to arrive to test, as I have the royal rooms setup as such.

In the traditional sense of the word?  No, he's been dissolved in magma.

The lowest it can get is 1/4th value, so it's still a 250k room.

The Raven has been knocked unconcious!

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

Yes, you can. I always do this with my nobles and their consorts, giving them the same room. They don't need to double up on the items. They are both considered to own them.

Generally my fortresses use one huge dormitory for everyone's bedrooms. Each bed has a room designated for it that covers the entire room. It's not too hard to push them all up to Royal, and then all you have to worry about is nobles complaining about the uppity peasants.
