Hahaha, I'm with you there.  Panzer General is a game that will kick your ass, but you can't stop playing.

But yeah, as mention before, in non-FPS games there really isn't the taboo on the Wehrmacht.  In a game like HOI, Germany is the most popular side, hands down.  It's strange - shouldn't being a commander for Nazi Germany be more taboo than a mere soldier?

You seem to be under the assumption that censorship needs to be based on anything rational.  This is obviously false.  Seeing a computer generated female nipple is more taboo than seeing a computer generated adult human being beaten to death because you are tapping the square button repeatedly.

It's based entirely on subjective reasoning if that makes any sense.

When you are a commander deciding people's fate from a distance you can more easily ignore the fact that thousands of lives are being lost because you aren't actually seeing the people dying, just the statistics.  Thus being a General is less taboo than being a soldier.

Well Germany's censorship is pretty screwed up in it's own way.  I dunno, what's an example of good video games rating systems?  I never hear anything at all about France, so maybe the French have gotten it right?

Censorship is generally a complicated topic. On one hand you want to protect more innocent minds, on the other hand you do it in the worst possible way. Especially since videogames qualify as "art" in my opinion.

You dont go around censoring Schiele because he drew some nipples.

But where are we to draw the line? Even porn is creative in one way or another but I probably don't want to look at creampie feasting when I go to an exhibition.

edit: I dont wanna look at a painting of a brownish square-like blob that costs 5000$, either, but what can you do  ;D

You cold make a Thief-like game about some Berliner woman trying not to get caught(and gangbanged) by Soviets. That would be fun. Make her Hitler's secretary for extra points. Or even better, Eva Braun!
"For years you've been manipulating Hitler into doing your biding, silently pulling strings from the shadows. Now the fortunes are against you, you must find your way out from this trap that Berlin has become. You must use your stealth, your wit and your amazing kung-fu(why not?) skillz to survive."
Sequel: Play on the Soviet side!

Also, can't someone do something more time altering like Close Combat kind of does(Such as being able to delay the Allies for too long or stopping the Normandy invasion) or at least make a game based off of the will to survive? Also, the Poles were pretty good at defending for a couple of weeks with an army that still including some horsemen.

Two games that went unmentioned:

Wermacht and Panzer Elite storyline/campaign: Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor

Wermacht/SS/All Versions of German Forces: Close Combat I, II, IV, V.

Both are RTS's, but I think in the original post they only asked for a game, not a FPS.

No, he pretty much said FPS (I know it's a ginormous wall of text  ;), and the exact question is "Anybody know of such a game?", but the wall-of-text talks about FPSes specifically)

and to reiterate for the dozenth time: there are a shipload of RTSes and TBSes (not to mention TBTs, what's so good about WWII tactics anyway?!) that play as the nazis, it's not uncommon in the least.

what's so good about WWII tactics anyway?!
Tigers, Mustangs, Blitzkrieg, U-boats, Battleships, Carriers...
It is about the only well known instance of full-scale modern warfare between two relatively even forces.
