No, the 'bottomless pits are full of magma until a dwarf finds them" bug was fixed awhile ago.

I embarked on a cave for the hell of it and to see if it contained any interesting creatures.
My dwarves ending up starting right next to an irate dragon.

I'm sure the vaporized booze gave my extra crispy dwarves a succulent flavour.

I screwed up my cluster numbers on Ettins and ended up with a cave that had 37 Ettins in it.

The last 5 years worth of Orc sieges keep diving down there to eat Ettins instead of attack my fortress. So far none of the Orcs have come back out with all bits still attached, if they come back out at all.

Embarked on a normal map with a magma pipe.

I started right next to the pipe entrance. Ordered the woodcutter to chop wood and had a miner dig down.

A fire imp popped out and fireballed the wagon. The booze detonated.

The woodcutter was far enough away to survive, but had yellow wounds and went insane shortly after.

I remember in like my fifth ever game of DF i found a human town next to a magma pipe (never been able to locate this ever again, which is a pity), i thought that was pretty awesome, right up until a fire imp popped out and roasted the town.

No problem i thought, the fire won't go past the roads.

Whereupon a fire man popped out, charged a guard and set everything on fire. :(

As soon as I turned up to the mountains, a titan popped out of nowhere and chased my dwarfs around like Scooby-Doo before he crushed them all.
I tried to reclaim the place, but by the time I got there the titan had gone.  ???
