Leather Type/Quality
« on: August 14, 2009, 07:46:49 pm »

I looked around a bit, and didn't find any specific mention of my suggestion,so forgive me if I missed it somewhere.

Has anyone suggested making the base leathers into "Low Quality Leather", "Leather", and "High Quality Leather", as opposed to from the specific creatures they came from?

Or at the very least tuck that particular information into the item description, so by the time we are producing Masterwork Dromedary Leather High Boots, we can actually see what specific type of item we are trading/moving/equipping?

On a purely personal level, it also offends my OCD that my dwarves are running around with shoes made of mismatched leathers...

There've been suggestions to add quality to basically all intermediary goods, so you could have e.g. a Finely-Cut Log, a Well-Smelted Iron Bar, a Superbly-Grown Plump Helmet, et cetera. Leather would certainly fall under this category.

Derakon how would that system reduce the number of types of leather?
Malsqueek, I get what you mean but I like the fact that in some way an item still has its roots, its history. I think more aptly what we need is a better gauge of the value of materials when we are looking at them, and for dwarves to not separate pairs of *clothing*

There is plenty of stuff in this game that should offend your OCD, it all needs to be taken care of  :D

I like that you can find that stuff out. It's fun to look at the descriptions of things, I would just like the mass-handling view, and basic inventory view to be more readable than descriptive...

Let's not go overboard with material quality. Things quickly get stupid if every damn boulder has a 6 rung range of quality

Boots should be handled in pairs, even if they're individual items. Dwarves taking separate pairs is a bit jarring
