What to do with this stuff?
« on: August 08, 2009, 04:06:53 pm »

Well, after losing a fort to HFS that *might* not have been an accident, I came back in adventure mode with 11 Ambusher and snuck around the place looting it, since there is no way I would ever be able to kill the demons. So far I've found:

12 Aluminum Flasks(Can I put water in these? If not I might just sell them)
An Adamantine Sock(I bet the dwarfs would be jealous... if they were still alive)
Assorted Felsite Goods(earrings, bracelets, idols, etc. Make a nice profit)
2 Steel Battleaxes
A sh*tload of copper weapons(too bad I started with an iron sword)
And my only artifact - an emerald floodgate.

No sign of either adamantine weapon I had(a sword and spear), or the backpacks/quivers I made. I think the demons might have picked them up since, well, they're adamantine. Anyway, what should I do with it? Do the flasks have any practical use? What about the floodgate, should I sell it? Stash it somewhere?

The end of the world is more fun then I expected.

Well, you can sell the flasks and junk for cash and other stuff. Not really all that useful but its legal and won't piss the nation off. Demons won't pick the stuff up, but it will get scattered all over the dang place. You'll have to train up enough to kill the demons before you go and scavange the weapons.

Aluminium flasks are pretty good for profits, at least in fortress mode.  They're probably good in adventure mode.

Stuff moves based on how heavy it is.  A really heavy bin with heavy weapons in it won't move at all.  Stuff with leather will be who knows where.

You need to make said elf leather into the most amazing work of art.  Embed it with every kind of gem you have, stud it with metals, and sew images into it.  Erect a shrine outside your fort with that in the center.  Let the elves know that you view their very skin as naught more but a medium for your dwarves to work on.

You could always chuck them at your enemies.

If you can put water in flasks, fill them up and throw water at people.

How much damage does water do when you throw it?  Can you dismember people by throwing WATER at them?

I dunno about dismemberment, but...

You can chuck most anything at your enemies, including cockroaches.

They will all cause death.

Thrown objects are all basically the same, unless the thrown object is a weapon of some kind.  This will change with the next release.

The image of throwing water at someone and having it sever a limb is just too amusing.  I had to ask.

I think throwing water and it smashing his head into his body then knocking the corpse backwards into a wall and having all the limbs blow off is better the decapitation.
