Carpenter won't even with labor set and workshop profiles set so everyone can work there.

There plenty of wood, that is not set forbidden as far as I can tell.

Any clue to whats happening?

mmmm - a carpenter's workshop has 3 non-accessible tiles.  If you put the door(s) in either of the lower corners, there is no access.

Things to check:

Is the building material of the carpenter's shop forbidden?
The carpenter isn't on break?
The carpenter isn't busy hauling?

I can't think of anymore. There's sure to be other things to check, though.

Hmmm... did you accidentally set "Dwarves gather wood" to off?  I doubt it, but it's a thought.

Make sure your carpenter doesn't have any other time-consuming jobs set up.  If he's also your bookkeeper, you may have a problem.

I can't think of anything else.  :/

Nope, the carpenter says they have no job.

The wood, as I just checked isn't forbidden. The wood burners are using the wood as our the craftdrawfs as well as the bower.

The carpenters have only carpentry set. They did have wood gathering on, when the wood stock piles were low. They were constructing wood building outside for a bit, where I had all the jobs in the workshop set to suspended.

I've now tore down the workshop and built new one.

Is there anyway to get Toadyone to weigh in on this?

That weird. Now, they seem to be spartically using them, but, still spend lots of time sitting in their room bitching about not having a job.

Wait, were you said you were constructing wooden buildings. You mean things like walls and such, correct?

Anyway, if those jobs haven't been completed it's likely that they're tasking up all the wood.

Also, make sure your dwarves aren't unintentionally set to stay inside, so that your carpenters can actually go outside and build the walls.

They go can outside, I have a warehouse tower being built. So that not the issue, and all the wood construction is done.

What are you trying to build? Certain items (eg. animal traps) aren't built by carpenters, but by dwarves with the trapping skill enabled.

Yes, I was building animal traps.

I removed them from the work order manager. Hopefully that was the issue.

Happens to everyone a few times. DF is so complex that any problem could have 30 different solutions or causes.
