Boiling leather
« on: August 04, 2009, 06:27:38 pm »

I keep getting caravans and migrants arriving with a piece of boiling leather, which promptly burns and kills whatevers left behind them.

I also have a piece of " meat" (space is present in list) as a possibility to buy on embark.

What causes this? I'm fairly sure I haven't messed up any raws, but is there an easy way to check?

Sounds like something funky set with temperatures. Yes, it does sound like raws. Have you installed mods? If you haven't changed anything, just reinstall, and that should answer that question.

If you're well into the fort and can't regen, try turning temperature off?

ahahahahaha omg i lol'd at "boiling leather on migrants burning things."

sorry, i have no clue, but the idea of migrants showing up with boiling anything (especially something that usually doesn't boil) makes my imagination cry from laughter.

armok, this game is bad ASS. i will never go back to WoW, ever. screw my co-workers, they do NOT know the humor and fun that this game produces (menacing with spikes of fatality, of course).

Buy it, save the profile, and then open up the profile in a text program. Hopefully, it'll have a useful ID.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

I've heard of someone with this issue before on a map with scorching temperature, all migrants and caravans with leather burned to death, all invading goblins wearing iron became goblin roast-in-a-can.

If I remember, he saved the migrants by having the entrance through a 3/7 or 4/7 water pool(While also being close to the edge of the map), which will stop most fires, and since temperature inside is always good, just make sure to either keep the dwarf inside, or have the leather items dumped.

What kind of statues are your masons making, that you think they have "maximum exposure"?
(Full frontal ones, apparently.  With very short beards.)

It's not a temperature of region, it's a broken raws' creature without adjective (" meat") and proper homeoterm/leather temp.

This is as has been stated a problem with the raws.

Either track down the item in question if you've modded anything, or reinstall the folder with a plain vanilla version. You'll have to regen a new world, but if you're attached to your location you can always copy the world gen info from the legends screen.

Yes, but the person in question messed with the temperature raws *intentionally*
