Civ names with meaning
« on: July 29, 2009, 06:09:50 pm »

Reading through the site readouts of a newly genned world and I saw something I just had to share:

Hobgoblins:
The Keys of Nudity -- Fallen
The Will of Safety -- Active
The Zenith of Snot -- Fallen

I guess there is power in names after all...

Ha, the major Dwarven civ in my current game is called "The Basement of Pleasure."
I really don't want to think about that too hard.  :P

My local civs all have interesting names. My dwarves' civilization is called Abanstinthäd, "The Constructive Theater", which I think is pretty cool. The local humans are Mong Orid, "The Nation of Universes". The elves I have to give credit for: Vinena Thafe, "The Storm of Squashing". The goblins also have a pretty cool name, Esnubåx, "The Alchemical Nightmares". But funniest of all, the local kobolds don't have a decent name; they're just plain Damin, which means "Damin". It's almost pitiable.

The local goblins are "The Immorality of Fists"  I don't want to think of the immoral things they are doing with their fists...

The Brotherhood of Violence

I did my best to honor this name.

I think my favorite name so far is a goblin fortress called 'Bitchfamous.' Dominated elven, dwarven, and human civilizations for quite a distance, as well.

Any civ with that name WOULD.

Forts:
Musclebrother
Paddlewhipped
Orbsquashed (OW!)
Groups:
The Hairy Orbs
The Pillar of Meat
The Moist Salve

Why do all my fortresses transform into homoerotic nightmares? ;_; This is only maybe a third of the horrifying names I've gotten, but I can't recall any of the rest. I'll edit them in if I remember. I haven't yet gotten any particularly alarming civ names that I can think of, though.

My local group in the current fortress is the Tower of Stones. (What else would you build a tower out of? That "wood" junk that we burn every day?)

Ironically, it's symbol is an ELF.

The civilization itself is the Oceanic Nets. (That's where all the big fish are. Or were, cause I never saw any of them. Over-fished the ocean?

More ironically, it's symbol is a CAT.

Beware the husks, for they are relentless, corrupting, and unstoppable. Only the might of hell itself can even keep it in check; and only for a small period of time. If one sees such a being; run away, unless you like the idea of joining their ranks.

My current fort is called Braidblockade, I think it's an awesome name. I've got usual lame civ names, The Clear Arch and The Tired Palace.
