Other gases besides miasma and mist

I like the idea of miasma giving bad thoughts and water mist giving good thoughts,
but there's probably more that can be done with the current gas system, such as underground gas pockets (unbreathable, maybe a power source?) or the smell of food cooking generated by kitchens and breweries (causes happy thoughts, makes dwarves hungry?)

who else thinks the gas system should be expanded and given other more creative examples?

Urist mcbum never bathes and has no freinds?

We would have to do it so that the gas system is not as annoying as misma, smoke and mist currently are. Maybe making the transparent? Isnt that being worked on?

Other than that i support a wider varety of gasses. Gas emission tags and the gasses themselvs should be expanded into the raws.

At the verry least the creture/item tags would need a cause and durration, while the gasses themselvs would need tags for temperature, effects (explosive, sufficating or linked to specific poison and dissese, among other things), chancs to pass on this effect, how much it spreads, how long it lasts and whether or not it can rise in the air. Oh, and a color too, if you cannot specify an immage.

I think gases in attacks and deaths will be implemented the next version. Like and acid breath for sea serpents and so on.

The material system seems to have been expanded so that you can have a gas of any material.  The question is A) the effects of the material, and B) how those materials are generated in game.  Gold vapor, for example, isn't something you're going to encounter outside of demons breathing it as a superhot weapon.  Also, effects such as "giving a happy thought" or "making a dwarf hungry" aren't possible yet, so that's something for the pile.  I also want to see "explodes on spark" possible, so we can have gas pockets that explode it you strike metal nearby (like with a pickax).

Ways of producing these gasses though, that's something that could use work.  RAW tags for spawning these gasses from objects would be step one, spawning them from conditions (such as lack of bathing) would be another step.
