Now if only Toady was working on the Army Arc.... ;)

I've personally tried many tactics fighting goblins in the past.  My military ctually doesn't do bad...IF I fight them on my terms.  Rushing out to attack them is suicide, letting them in the halls corridors makes bow-goblins much less lethal.  Traps are always nice, just not my style atm.  My newest attempt is a combo of marksdwarves and magma pits...should be fun.

My point is:  How can the system be THAT bad if everyone in this thread has different ways of fighting off a siege?

Yeah, but legendary soldiers can't be given orders... So they are quite useless if you want to charge or ram the ennemy...

My stray dogs often chase fire imps back into the magma pipe and then continue fighting while burning and drowning in the lava. Truly their loyalty knows no bounds, but perhaps it should.
