Adventure succession game?
« on: April 26, 2011, 12:33:52 pm »

Once new cities are there, what do you think about following succession game?:
1) We generate a world with largest cities possible
2) Player starts and goes to a city chosen at start of the game, no training during travel
3) Player picks a chosen person in the city and names him with his name
4) Player then goes on rampage and kills as many people as he can, killing "avatar" of one of previous players gives +10% points
5) Player dies, posts a funny story and the save here.
6) Next person downloads the save and becomes the next player
7) GOTO 2

Awww, man, I'm so fired up for these new cities, I can't wait for the immense FUN.
Heh, I guess we all here have a homicidal maniac inside.

I was going with succession as in,
1. host start a fort some off in a corner of the world
2. host end the game in adventure mode causing the fort to be counted as a dwarven mountain home.
3. create an adventure from that civ the fort is in and try to travel to there.
4. if you make it to the site swap over to fort mode remove the Is resident tag and build out a room for your adventurer (using Dfusion, Tweak, or "Dflair"  to make the fort scatter proof is best.)
5. swap over to adventure mode when finish with the room and retire/rest the adventurer and dump the save.
6. the time it takes to build out the room is given to the player can't have the fort end due to withering or abandonment only through adventure mode retire or if the adventurer is dead "finish the game"
7. go to 3.

Or maybe just diffrent addventurers, same world? If you survive a year then you retire your charcter and he can become be found and join your party?

maybe have them retire in a players fort for the chance for mass murders of human kind can take place.

That sounds good. Maybe require each adventurer to be from the same civ too, and only changing that if all the local quests are used up, or some douche murders the civ ruler or something.

if the local quest well dries up you could go into a succession fort mode with adventure mode play style where each year the player gets to manage the site and be allowed to leave the area for any means the catch is that they can only control their character(and if lucky their Migrants if they come to the site during the time the player has) and make changes to only their character(and migrant group) jobs any one else must be left alone(hard mode is this includes any migrants and leaves only the players characters ability to change jobs. Normal would be you can only control the task of migrants who came to your site on the year of the fort).

But it's boring if you don't kill anything.
Getting to mountainhome or surviving a year is trivial.

With the new cities with populations of 2k+, just simply killing residents is way more fun.
I can't help but smile at thought of running through back alleys, stabbing people from shadows and bleeding out in sewers hoping to escape from that master marksman, or hiding in an abandoned chapel, awaiting innocent peasants prey. Urban combat ahoy!

Isn't this much more challenging and fun than finding way to a cave or chasing grasshoppers?

A year in adventure mode would be way too long. It would be better for a month or week. And going on a killing spree is kind of stupid for a thing like this, asmageddon.

Why? It's both a hard challenge and something giving sense of accomplishment.

It's not like we can do anything more interesting than killing in adventure mode anyway, so why not go killing in a place with varied, numerous enemies, with open spaces, closed rooms and tight corridors, many layers(sewers) and abundance of collectable equipment.

Yeah, it's indeed pretty stupid, but imho nothing else could provide as much fun in adventure mode atm.

EDIT: Well, maybe hide&seek with artifacts could be fun as well, you know, somebody hides few items and leaves various clues. Next players then investigate in both legends and adventure mode, hiding their own items alongside. Everybody is given ingame week(or month) and is supposed to find as many items as he can during that time.
Of course, posting interesting stories afterwards is mandatory.

Why?
Yeah, it's indeed pretty stupid,
Answered your own question, eh?

Are you trying to imply that surviving a month during which you kill creatures or finding something you know location of is any less stupid?
I don't think so. And of all these options, going on a rampage in a city is the most action-filled one.

Man running through a large city top down is just going to be mass murder simulator, which is fun just it not what I would like to see Majority of Adventure successions be.
Devling, ale kinda got the idea of a universal Adventure succession where you spend a "discussed amount of time" to do anything in the world and or the new cities then either return to a site and retire. the Civ leader killing could be a problem when some towns branch off a larger one and may prevent the player to return if he decided to go murder the lord of the land.

If we start as peasants, then it's a challenge, especially considering how random people can kill colossi slayers by chance.
Well, maybe succession indeed should be something more worthwhile...

Then what about calling this idea a tournament?

well there was an assassin adventure game where the winner gets to pick out a creature from the legends mode and the player has to show proof of killing the creature all this under the same save file. so tournements too professional why not call it "serial killer Game." now about the Adventure Succession. you guys think about Companions following the adventurer in fort mode like pets? Should the case when FPS drops from too many Companions the first thing we should do is lock them in our rooms.

Hmmm... So, they would have a goal and have to train (eye of the tiger style) to become stronger to kill the beast? Maybe each player gets, say, 10 adventurers to try to kill the monster so random wolf deaths are negated?
