Not so much a suggestion as a pitiful request
« on: February 22, 2008, 01:13:00 am »

Dear Toady,

I know you have an established order for arcs and you are busy doing important work on the army arc, and I absolutely love the new stuff you are doing with relationships and family and armies and everything, especially in regards to adventure mode.

I have just one request, and I know it's already in the cores, but I was hoping you could throw in just a little itty bitty bone for the adventure mode guys, just a little tiny thing that I think would greatly enhance the game:

Food.

I know people want fishing and cooking and all that stuff, but I'd settle for being able to gather it from a tree or something, just some way to allow you to stay in the local map and survive.

People have already set up nature retreats and resorts to live out their adventure days in, but you can't really stay around that area because there is no food to collect.  You can fill waterskins in a river, but there is no way to get food save theft and trade.

I hope it doesn't sound too pretentious of me to ask, but I just had to, for the sake of hope.

Please, Uncle Toady, feed us, we are hungry =(

My stray dogs often chase fire imps back into the magma pipe and then continue fighting while burning and drowning in the lava. Truly their loyalty knows no bounds, but perhaps it should.

You should be able to eat vermin once you get down to starving, but that is only because disease isn't in yet.

Perhaps even a quick and dirty "natural creatures drop their size in meat when killed during adventure mode" until it gets worked on officially.

Actually that could be moddable.  Dwarf mode would become difficult to play but adventure mode...

Shame I'm not very good with the itemcorpse.

Would it be possible to allow adventurers to butcher animals without a workshop?
That way, you could hunt down and animal and then butcher it on the spot.  Same with preparing a fish for consumption.

This is a fox skull helmet. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It menaces with spikes of fox bone and is encircled with bands of fox leather. This item is haunted by the ghost of Alfador Angrorung the fox.
