Kitchen food-removal job
« on: November 14, 2007, 07:18:00 pm »

I think that the job "remove cooked food from a kitchen" fires far too infrequently.

Right now, I am watching multiple food haulers idling while the food sits in the kitchen getting ready to rot.  This feels wrong to me.

Looking at the job list, there isn't even a "store item in stockpile" job associated with the cooked food.

I suggest tweaking the job to come up more frequently.

I nearly posted this in Bug Reports, but it's not quite a bug, it's a design decision.

Is there room in the stockpile for the prepared food?  Because if there isn't room or if the prepared food isn't allowed, it won't get hauled.

If software was real world, then it'd be something equivalent of hitting a nail with a hammer and having a building collapse on the other side of town.

Don't worry people, sometimes -moments occur

Oh yes, tons of room and no other food to haul except a few seeds.

No, because they do move it eventually.

Eventually is sometimes not fast enough to prevent rot.

I actually have this problem as well.  I think it may be a bug, because I don't have this problem in the early game no matter how much food I'm cranking out.  Once I get a lot of dwarfs and a more complicated pathing ...
