Dealing with fire
« on: November 14, 2007, 03:45:00 am »

Essentially, can you?

I've got a bunch of stuff on fire in my fortress (dragon attack).  No matter if I forbid it, dwarves still end up dying of wounds sustained from getting too close to it.  I flooded part of my fort, which solved that problem, but there's fire objects in places I don't think I can get water to without taking my entire fortress out.  I've seen some posts before talking about fire being big time trouble, but is it insurmountable big time trouble?

Dwarves don't seem to fire brigade with buckets, unfortunately...

You can undermine the flaming objects. You can build a wall next to one, a stair next to that, and designate the area above the item as a pond, so dwarves will dump water on it. At least, you can try that.  :p

I would also love a quick fix to circumvent fire in adventure mode. when you neak your on the ground, and as such should at least have a 1 or 2 block viewing distance in smoke. So then I could navigate my way around burning forests... or as I like, towns.
