So I decided to use a Forgotten Beast as an executioner.
« on: October 19, 2013, 12:37:39 pm »

A few weeks back, an Uninvited Guest spawned in the caverns beneath my Fortress.

"The Forgotten Beast Xungo has come! An enormous humanoid composed of grime and filth! It has wings and appears to me emaciated! Beware its poisonous vapors!"

Only problem for old Xungo is that I sealed off the caverns when I first discovered them and haven't got much interest in poking around in there so a Giant Cave Spider can ambush and slaughter my military.

Recently, I got pretty pissed when my Baron made a imposed a ban on bins while the caravan was leaving. His little twerp enforcer, the Captain of the Guard, beat two of my dwarves to death (one of which was her husband!) so I decided to execute some Dwarven Justice of my own.

I was initially going to leave her in my drowning chamber, but I thought of a more Fun way to kill her. I'm going to channel out a floor just above the caverns and make a retractable drawbridge over the gap. Hopefully she'll survive the fall long enough for Xungo to get to her.

So yes, I'm making a Rancor Pit for execution purpose :)

And then the untrained fat and weak baron one hit kills the FB because filth is not a hard material.

I thought Dorfs (unless armed with a crossbow) absolutely won't fight unless they're military?

Edit: Besides, even if they manage to kill the FB they're still a dorf trapped underground without food and probably at least one broken bone.

They run when an enemy starts getting close (might be dozens of tiles away), which usually means they would only be in range to attack if they can do it from afar (ranged weapons). If the dwarf otherwise has no route of escape (back to the wall, being grappled/held, etc.) then they fight back.

Shoot >:

Well, the Dwarf will still be trapped underground XD

Maybe a more Fun Forgotten Beast will appear? :D

Or even better, I could find the Carnival, and open up a side-route into the caverns. The Clowns can be my executioners :D

You could also try to trap the FB behind some fortifications to create a gas chamber. use some furniture as bait, then seal up the chamber with bridges.

That's an idea.

Only downside is I'd have to work fast while the FB is away XD

otherwise he'll return and make my workers scatter through the cavern.
