You.... how... why?

It's pretty interesting actually, provided that whoever has the floor at the time isn't a piss-boring monotone speaker. Whatever it looks like from the outside, listening to parliment argue over every little detail of every little issue is quite nice, since someone's eventually going to make a well-informed, well-rounded argument and restore my faith that there actually is thought given to the acts passed.

That reminds we when I saw the British House of Commons on TV a few weeks ago.  It was really one of the most interesting things ever.  They just sit in a circle, and whenever they want, they stand up and speak, which allows them to actually have a debate.  Kicks the American system's ass.

Why is it that every body attacks America's system. Yeah, It's flawed. We know this. We accept this. Why bring it up? Besides, I blame the Obama Administration's last-minute rush tactics.

Bring it up because it needs fixing. Admiting the problem is step 1. Fixing it is step 2.

How is Obama to blame for this? He's been in office for a few months! Did he change the system while being in office?

It is brung up so we can do something about it. There are flaws. Nobody can deny them. However, the strengths of our system counteract them usually well enough.

While I do endorse the calling out of people who attack American things because it's whats popular now, we still need to accept constructive criticism. Of course just pointing out flaws isn't terribly constructive without saying a solution, but remember the intent of the speaker at all times and respond accordingly.

Definitely. New inductees to the senate should be chosen Battle Royale style. I think there would be a lot more mutual respect if everyone there had to earn their position with an automatic shotgun or a rocket launcher.

I only get my news from AP or Reuters straight up anymore.

Except for funny stuff like Colbert and Fark.

I like the BBC. They've shown themselves to be quite professional (though slightly biased towards right-wing democracy of course) in international news. I use Reuters for news about the UK.

They stuck an entirely different story in there? I admit the deaths by all those bombings are serious enough to warrant a topic on its own, but that was a pretty idiotic and unprofesional thing to do.

It's a war, people are going to die. Thats what happens. What probably happened to this story is this: A person writes it. An editor goes: this is boring - add some story to it. The person who looks at the original and thinks - this is good, has to re-write it. Repeat twice.
