[40d13] Rocket Wagon
« on: July 12, 2009, 09:49:42 pm »

It was Autumn of my second year at my new fort, and the Dwarven caravan arrives just on time. All the wagons and mules file into my depot, nothing out of the ordinary. Except that one of the wagons made it from the edge of the map (at least 80 tiles away) to my depot in just a few seconds! The same thing (in reverse) happened when the caravan left. It doesn't really cause me any problems, but it's definitely amusing watching a wagon go across the screen in less than a second :D

I've had this happen sometimes with 40d11. Sometimes they are accompanied by a wagon with the speed of a glacier.......

I think the cause lies somewhere in pathing issues.

I haven't seen exactly this, but I did notice that in 40d13 sometimes all the dwarves on the screen start moving much faster than they usually do; this goes on for a while and then they slow back down.

I had this happen in 40d (the stable release).

In the same fort I also had the opposite happen where a single caravan moved about 20x slower than the others. My fort setup at the time had acces from the top of the mountain down through an 'access ramp' then through the main entrance. By the time the slow wagon reached the access ramp (30 z-levels of ramps up from the main entrance) the other wagons had already unpacked and were sitting there waiting.
