Crops rotting in the field

OK, my 10x10 plump helmet plot has a problem. No-one seems to be picking them any more. I have 10 peasants set to no labors except food gathering but they're all stuck on "no job" and I have no idea why :(

Are you sure that you have some empty stockpile space that accepts plump helmets?

Did you set the gathering order to "only grower can harvest in the "o" menu?


And why do you need a field that big?
...Makes me think... how cool would it be to build a fort out of food!

Found it, had "dwarves ignore food" turned on for some reason >< Blah, must have accidentally hit it. Thanks guys.

Had a 10x10 simply because that was the biggest single one I could make. I do have 165 dwarves to feed :)

I go for several smaller plots so I can grow different crops... plump helmet does get boring after awhile...

I have a farm of 60 muskox, 1 male and 59 females that produces a boat-load of musk-ox meat every year. I buy every bit of food from every caravan that comes and have 2 legendary cooks making lavish meals constantly, I don't have any complaints about the same old food any more :)
