No seriously, wtf?

That... Is an elf. On a wagon. Made of wood. What the hell is going on here?

I changed them a bit - I wanted to make them less passive-agressive about "you're barbarians, but we'll trade with you as long as you do what we say or else we'll run in and eat you," to make them a bit more like elves from D&D, and not freako-naught Faeries from the heart of the Wyld.

Instead... They've... They've become normal people. I think I might not be able to bring myself to dump them in the magma pipe. I might have to actually trade with them!

Quick! To the workshops!

Elves are allowed to build with wood, because they can make sure that it's Kosher. As long as they only use limbs that the trees drop naturally, and don't actually harm the trees, then it's OK.

If an elf riding a wagon is the strangest thing you've seen while modding, you're not trying hard enough.

As an anti-crap-FPS measure, I gave all my dwarves a Speed of 1, resulting in dwarves who can sprint from one end of the map to the other in about 10 seconds. Is that strange?

IS that an elf? I can't make head or tail of your tileset.

The Raven has been knocked unconcious!

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

Yeah, it's an elf. The top fifth of it is an ear. ::)

I'm curious what the barely conscious ai wrote about.
Well that went better than expected.  He went nuts and punched a rabbit to death, then the dogs and the whole dining hall ripped him to shreds.

I'll bet it's something he removed. Maybe regarding liasonhood? Or maybe making more tradeable goods just necessitated wagons in some hardcoded manner?

I didn't remove anything.

I just changed them to make them less xenophobic - to not get all scary evil because you had to chop some damn trees down, to make it something 'distasteful, but acceptable if nessessary because fleshies come first' in their culture.

I didn't think that would mean they'd start showing up in wagons, though. :P

I've modded elves plenty of times.  Usually they start building wagons with the slightest provocation.  Turn Elves into a more tolerant race?  Wagons.  Turn elves into a metal using warrior race?  Wagons.  Turn elves into a torturing child snatcher race?

wagons.

So effectively their current setup is hardcoded to not use wagons and any change to that disables the feature?

No... strange is your dwarves spontaneously exploding in a bloody fireball, sending burning organs everywhere, and even the bones are on fire.
