I came into dwarf fortress through Pc Gamer UK, they had a copy on one of their discs.

Blarg.  Am I the only one to find Dwarf Fortress from Noctis?  I got into Dwarf Fortress because of the building and exploring aspect, not the torturing aspect.

I got into DF and Noctis both independently.  I didn't know Noctis linked to DF, that's neat!

Don't be an A hole and link to the actual page.
You bastard.  the phrase 'tvtropes.org' should be censored on this forum.

That would actually be a pretty cool firefox plugin.

Blocks all links with TVtropes in them . . .

I was saved by TV tropes because I already read most of it.

Or atleast the parts that are interesting.

I was saved from TVTropes because I have the titanic willpower needed to close a tab.

I found Dwarf Fortress when looking for freeware games on wikipedia.

But yes, TV tropes is both a blessing and a curse.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

I found Dwarf Fortress when looking for freeware games on wikipedia.

Same. I believe I was specifically looking for roguelikes to play. Initially I forgot about it, though it had looked interesting (I believe the fact that it was still early on in development had turned me off), but then a friend talked about it about a week later, reminding me about it. He hadn't really played it much, but he wanted to know if I had because he wanted some help with it (I eventually directed him to the wiki, of course). So then I went back and downloaded the game and had massive amounts of fun.

I do, too! I can close tabs all day. Unfortunately, for each one I close, I've opened between two and six more from that very page.
