Interaction of dwarf mode and adventure mode
« on: July 08, 2009, 12:59:26 pm »

Hi all,

I have a few questions about adventure mode and how it interacts with your fortress.

1) Is it possible to play an adventure game that interacts with your fortress w/o abandoning the fortress? E.g., save your fortress as is, play as an adventurer, and restart your fortress, not from your last fortress save, but having the effects of your adventure also part of the world?

2) Can you recruit adventurers into your fortress somehow?

Thanks,

mj

1) No. Not without abandoning.

2) No. But you can recruit people from your fortresses into your adventuring party.

It is possible, but only via a scum save (save the game, copy the save file somewhere else, load and abandon, play adventure mode).

The problem is that adventure mode and fortress mode both cause time to elapse, which can cause continuity issues. Rather than risk them, Toady has simply decreed that they cannot coexist. Simple enough.
