Hmm... Indeed? Then there must be some sort of arbitrary count-down or "delay", which acts as a pregnancy period. Hadn't tested that before myself. Although I'm absolutely sure I've had caged females give birth several years in a row before, without letting them our to get impregnated by spores in between. $:-\$ Maybe Toady changed it in some version?
