Naw I can fully imagine someone disliking Starwars.
Trek all the way, man.

The new Star Trek movie was great IMHO.

REBEL SCUM!

FTFY. ;)
Although to tell the truth I hate almost everything about the SW movies... but still find them oddly enjoyable. I'm also one of the (apparently) few people who don't think the prequels were significantly worse than the original trilogy.

I am personally surprised the Empire was ever "Defeated" I would have thought that eventually new management would take over reinstalling the Republic.

They never were defeated, actually.

Well, what happened was that the Republic defeated the Empire once and for all and left the Imperial Remenat as a small backwater dictatorship while the Republic remained happy and joyful. However, the Republic was corrupt, and so people flocked over to the Imperial Remenat. The new Empire grew strong and mighty, and eventually defeated the Republic in a war and has taken over. Currently, the new Empire is in a civil war between loyalists to the Emperor and the Sith ursupers.

Yeah, that's the general perception of the Extended Universe stuff, especially since the Yuuzong Vong crap.  Cries of "just let them have a happily-ever-after already".  Because EU authors are unoriginal hacks, and Luke, Leia, and Han are the main characters of pretty much everything, despite now being like thirty years since the end of Episode 6 in-universe time.

I would despise Episode 7, should it be set after Return of the Jedi.

Pretty much because all the main characters are old now.

And anything before that? Like a prequel? Could not be bothered to even go see it.

It would make sense, at the very least.
