Temples

Obviously this idea isn't a new one. I just have been considering a couple points about them that would be consistent in my own vision of them.

  • Acts as meeting hall for followers of that deity.
  • Would finally provide a place for weddings, relating to that deity.
  • Pleasent thought based on the quality of the room.
  • Room is designated from an alter.

That's all I got so far.

Anyone else have any ideas of how they would want temples to function?

I'd rather see temples as a possible specialization of a more general meeting hall. Historically, that's what temples are. You should still be able to limit what happens in a particular hall (eg. chatting, drinking, weddings; not eating, sleeping, marketplace, animals, religious services) That way, you can reserve a meeting hall for weddings and religious services if you wish to model your fortress after christianity, or those who want an areligious fortress can hold weddings in the party hall.

Best of all, it fits the concept of the Dwarven Halls: a group of interconnected meeting spaces that together form the core of the fortress.
