No one uses my archery target?

Hello

I build the archery target, sized the room, and set the shooting direction. What else do I need to do to make my archers train?

fyi they have crossbows, bolts, quivers, and are off duty. They never even go into the room. Its been about 2 years.

They are metal... The archery target is wood.

What kind should I make them out of?

you must have wooden or bone bolts for them to train. you make wooden or bone bolts at the craftdwarves workshop
