Do sieges ever end?
« on: June 24, 2009, 07:13:03 pm »

I've been through about three (goblin)  sieges now, with most of them usually appearing in fall, though the latest one has appeared in winter.

I remember reading that defeating the gobbos enough will bring their king in the next siege, and I think that's what happened. One of them was decked out in a masterful and decent bone crafts, including a crown, while another had exceptional steel armor including some masterful pieces.

My question is, will the goblins continue staging sieges after this event?

I guess I should check the Civilization screen.

If you slaughter their local leadership you get something of a break, AFAIK. Things seem to pan out that way in the forts I play.

Yes, they'll keep coming.

Whether goblins come or not is tied to the rate at which you create wealth. If you create a lot of wealth in a very short amount of time, you'll get goblin sieges very frequently.

If you let your production stagnate, you'll get sieges infrequently.

Killing their local leaders doesn't seem to make them stop.

I understood nothing, contributed nothing, but still got to win, so good game everybody else.

Also, every few years they do some sort of "Phoney War", that keeps your on your toes. They'll just regroup and wait it out for a few years, then attack in vast numbers.
