Where are mah trolls!?
« on: June 20, 2009, 11:25:47 am »

I hear cool stories about trolls, haven't seen one in any goblin siege :S where are they?

Goblins need to have access to them in order to have them in the first place. So it's basically making sure goblins have a tower in an evil area with trolls. Never seen one myself personally.

Yeah, I get herds of 40 goblins and no trolls after 12 years.

I wouldn't be surprised if they could still ride Beak Dogs, but trolls... may have been removed from the Goblins' arsenal a few major releases ago when the sieging was updated.

Unless someone wants to prove me wrong. I like it when people prove me wrong, so I can stop preaching false information.

They can still ride beakdogs, Blockedlance shows that quite well. And I do believe they still do have trolls, but don't take my word on that, although I do recall people talking about getting trolls in some sieges.

trolls are still there, but for some reason they seem to be more scarce for me in 40d11 than in 40d for some reason. I used to get trolls in almost every siege, every map, but now I only had one siege with one puny troll on one map

I've never seen trolls since the move to 3d.

Not that it matters that much, the AI was broken and they wouldn't actually smash locked doors in.

I have made at least a dozen forts, had 3 of them last two or 3 decades and I have never seen a troll or a breakdog, not once.

Goblins would need access to an evil swamp in order to use beakdogs, have you tried that? And by "access" I really mean "Have a active dark tower built on it"

I don't know if the tower had to actually be in the swamp, but the swamp would definitely have to be within the territory of the nearest goblin civ to your fort.

In my current fort, the goblins all ride beak dogs.  It's actually kind of annoying since they don't seem any more dangerous than unmounted goblins, but leave twice the mess.
