Lucky Embark Spot
« on: June 15, 2009, 01:14:21 am »

I was testing to see what would happen if I picked the largest embark size. There is a magma pipe in the level, and I started RIGHT by the magma pipe! I was like woah. Does it automatically place you near it or something?

Yeah, they place you near features. Useful if they're below ground and you can't see them.

Not useful when it places you on top of the magma pipe.

And it's open to the surface.

Yeah. The game once embarked me under a cliff that immediately caved in. Several tons of rock burying my dorfs. Fastest end I experienced.

I guess I had the erosion set too high... I embarked next to an open HFS. Yeah. Things ended fairly quickly.

I've actually been curious as to whether or not this could happen, and have been trying to witness it myself. Anyway you still have the save? I'm also curious as to what legends look like after it was uncovered.

Even more interesting to contemplate...What if a HFS got uncovered early on in a worlds history, close to a civ site? Or where two armies were having a battle  :o! Imagine, 432 elves march against 23 dwarves (as it generally is) and are losing (the elves, and as it generally is), when suddenly they notice the hillside fall away, and hundreds of

come charging at them.
What would history say about that?

A: 432 elves, all lost
D: 23 dwarves, all lost

HFS was victorious

Do you have save or seed?
