It is unfortunate.  Yes, he should have gotten help, but responsibility should not be completely taken away. 

He wasn't taking his medication and he failed to meet appointments with his medical health team, enough for them to decide to drop him.  If he would have kept taking his medication and kept his appointments this also likely would not have happened.

Unfortunate? Yes.  Should he have gotten help? Yes.  Would he have actually gone to meet the people for the help once offered, or taken the medicine he was prescribed? Signs point to no.  Stick him in jail.

He's bipolar, probably thought the medicine was poison.
I don't know, my uncle is bipolar, and it's like: They can't 100%  control their actions, you never know really when it's the manic or depressive who is in control and how they are going to act.

3 guys 1 hammer is just one of the reasons I decided to try and join the police force! Yay! I told everyone that 4chan and ED weren't totally useless.
