Some vermin fly.

Nothing in DF "climbs", except to climb stairs or hillsides.

Vermin doesn't move like most creatures do. I don't know the exact mechanics, but vermin never paths-it teleports from place to place, and therefore can get into places it shouldn't logically be able to path to.

And yes, some vermin types can fly as well.

This is a Dwarven corpse. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is encircled with bands of pathetic and menaces with spikes of fail.

vermin is vermin! They climb through tiny holes in the wall. They have their own vermin fortress over there and they just have to watch out for the beardy megabeasts roaming outside!

New question! If I were to remove elves [INTELLIGENT] tag in the raws, would it work?

Yea well, vermin (the real vermin anyway, the ones that your dwarves detest) are generally tiny things like bugs, lizards, fluffy wamblers (whatever the heck they are), and mice. It's alot easier for a bug or lizard to climb a rock wall than a dwarf. Unless that dwarf happens to be Spiderdwarf.

As far as coding, it doesn't logically make sense, but as far as the creatures themselves, it makes sense simply because of their small size.

Yeah I just assume that, like in real life, vermin easily move through holes and cracks too small for dwarf-sized entities to even be aware of.

It started raining, then all my dwarves outside started bleeding to death. On inspection their upper bodies were missing.
