what if you put a hole in th lower level of the ocean (with a floodbridge to reclose it later) and lat it just flow away ... i think i heared that multi level water goes away instantly in a simple hole (you can do it by the smooth-engrave fortification glitch to make a hole)

It TELEPORTS! Word of god, btw.

So it will leave a level of between 1-6 water.

Instead of trying to pump it "away", can't you just destroy the water with a large array of repeating-lever-operated doors? IIRC, a closing door will destroy any water that shares its tile.

I'm imaginging something like this:
Sideview:

~~~~~   --- Ocean
XX~XX    ---- seabed, with one tile removed (by ramping underneath)
XX^D_   ----- ^ is upward ramp, D is door, _ is floor (dwarf access)
You'd need to have a lot of these, rather than one big one, because your dwarves can't hang around long enough to pierce the ocean twice in one chamber.
